A New Focus
"Rediscovering the Way" is now "The Greatest of These"
I started writing here on Substack back in December of 2021. I felt like it was time for a refresh, for a new and more refined focus.
First and foremost, I wanted something that would be helpful to readers. I also wanted something that reflected my focus in writing and speaking over the next several years. And I wanted this Substack to be about something that I am deeply passionate about. Finally, I wanted it to be helpful to me, to be something I need to more fully understand and live. Writing at its best changes the writer, too!
I’ve been thinking a lot about this change for the past few months. I decided I wanted to write about love as the center of human life, and a faith that expresses itself through love. Here’s where I landed:
“The Greatest of These” is for the dedicated, the doubters, and the disillusioned searching for a faith expressed through love.
You might be a dedicated follower of Jesus, interested in growing a deeper and better love for God, others, and yourself. You might doubt God, questioning his existence in a world where he seems absent. You might be disillusioned with God, the church, or yourself. Perhaps, like me, you find that all three of these categories apply to you—dedicated, doubting, and disillusioned—at least sometimes, or even at the same time.
Whoever you are, and whatever you believe, you are welcome here. I’m looking forward to interacting with you about these issues in the coming months and years. More to come next Tuesday.
In the meantime, I first want to say that I will not use AI. This will be a place of human writing and dialogue, one human writing for other humans. Here are my other commitments to readers.
