Well, Dr. Austin, if it was a choice between milquetoast morals and a post explaining how evangelicals elected an authoritarian and what hope is left for evangelical ethics, showing that evangelicalism still has something to offer or, like Gushee, how you are leaving it, I see you chose... well, this.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. When I write here, I usually have much more in mind than contemporary U.S. politics. I'm more concerned here with all Christians, and how we navigate the issues touched on briefly in the post. So I guess my choice was actually a post that very briefly notes the importance of creeds and deeds, and how the practice of solitude might be useful. Of course these issues are related to Christians, including evangelicals, and how they choose and act in the political realm. But that wasn't my point today. Maybe some people will make that connection if they reflect on it. Maybe not.

I actually should be a bit more circumspect. I am not in America. Given how much you have already been attacked (e.g., by Timothy Stratton) for trying to be a voice of reason, you are already courageous for merely being sane in an insane country.

thanks, I appreciate that very much, actually. I don't call everything out in every forum, but I have, for example, been pretty blunt and straightforward about what is going on in Florida now, with what amounts to a concentration camp. I'm pretty sure I've lost opportunities within the evangelical industrial complex because of some of my public stances on a variety of issues, and I genuinely am completely ok with that.
