"The Christian, trying to treat every one kindly, finds himself liking more and more people as he goes on—including people he could not even have imagined himself liking at the beginning.
Oh thank you; thank you! Such a needed reminder!! "Our actions shape our hearts, and vice versa." We do indeed live from the inside out and the outside in, which makes every thought and emergent behavior of ultimate importance. Many, sadly, don't believe anyone is keeping records, so we carry on as if the world is blind or indifferent. But there is One who sees and does keep records.
Love this. Related, recently theologian Paul Adams shared this in his blog post: “Whoever has experienced the power and the unrestrained ability to humiliate another human being automatically loses his own sensations. Tyranny is a habit, it has its own organic life, it develops finally into a disease. The habit can kill and coarsen the very best man or woman to the level of a beast. Blood and power intoxicate ... the return of the human dignity, repentance and regeneration becomes almost impossible.”
